BATHROOM PLANNING
Coordinate the vanity, top, sink, faucet and storage around your room, your plumbing and your daily routine.
Choose the vanity, top, sink and faucet together before opening walls or ordering.
Record wall lengths, door swing, ceiling height, windows, toilet location, tub or shower footprint and every fixed service. Photograph the existing plumbing.
Measure finished width, depth and height. Account for baseboards, wall irregularities, side fillers, drawer travel, handles and the route into the room.
Confirm the drain and supply locations against the actual cabinet interior. Drawers and shelves must clear traps, shutoffs and service access.
A vanity cabinet, vanity set, top and sink may have different inclusions. List every included and separately purchased component before comparing quotes.
A vanity update does not include shower waterproofing, ventilation, electrical or plumbing relocation. Define those scopes and use qualified trades where required.
Nominal width is only the starting point. Use the exact specification drawing.
Check feet, baseboards, rear plumbing openings and wall attachment. A freestanding label does not mean the unit needs no securement.
Confirm the manufacturer’s load and fastening requirements, structural backing and wall condition. Plan reinforcement before wall finishing.
Compare usable counter space, cabinet storage, drain positions and household needs. Two sinks require the correct plumbing and top configuration.
Verify outside dimensions, overhang, wall fit, faucet holes, sink mounting and backsplash inclusion. Custom tops need their own templating and fabrication scope.
Coordinate mirror width and mounting height with the user, faucet and lighting. Check electrical supply, driver access and installation instructions for powered mirrors.
Choose compatible parts before approving the countertop or drilling holes.
Confirm deck-mounted versus wall-mounted; single-hole, centerset or widespread requirements; exact hole spacing and allowable deck thickness.
Use the specification drawing to check where water lands in the bowl, hand clearance and splash risk. A tall vessel sink needs a compatible faucet and installation height.
Match the drain to the sink opening, overflow configuration and tailpiece. A drain supplied with a faucet is not automatically compatible with every sink.
Test pull-down hose travel, handle movement near the backsplash, window clearance and interference with soap dispensers or filtered-water taps.
Compare physical samples. Brass, brushed gold, nickel and black finishes can differ between product lines. Verify cleaning instructions before using chemical cleaners.
Use readiness checks to avoid dismantling the room before its replacement parts are ready.
Approve the vanity, sink, faucet, drain, mirror, lighting and hardware together. Keep model drawings with the plan.
Identify demolition, disposal, plumbing, electrical, backing, wall repairs, flooring and any approvals. Name who handles each task.
Inspect finishes, glass, top edges, bowls, hardware and dimensions before removing the existing vanity. Follow the supplier’s damage-reporting deadline.
Complete backing and trade changes before final wall finishes. Follow the product’s mounting, support, sealing and connection requirements.
Verify drainage, leaks, door and drawer travel, secure attachment and electrical operation. Keep care instructions and warranty documentation.
Vanity cabinet, top, sink, faucet, drain, backsplash, mirror, lighting, handles, side storage and installation parts. Record included and separate items for each selected model.
